Skipper's Responsibilities

1. Safety of crew and boat.

2. Ensuring transport so that their crew get to and from Largs.

3. Ensuring the provisioning of their boat to cover Saturday's race (Lunch & snacks) and Sunday Breakfast and Lunch). Remember to bring plenty of water. Soups and warm drinks are a good idea during the day in case of a cold weekend. Please check any special dietary requirements.

4. No dinner/entertainment is provided on Friday night, so each crew needs to arrange their own. Book ahead if you want to use the Marina restaurant, Nardini's.(01475 6866840)

5. Please note a strict requirement from Sunsail:
Skippers will need to send completed booking forms and photocopies of their sailing certificates/experience* details to Sunsail by Friday 10th August. It will need to be sent to:

Forms have to be fully completed, in particular:
a. Credit card details including expirey date for the security deposit of £2000 with address if different from top of booking form. For this event no collison damage waiver is possible. As you would expect, you as skipper, are liable for any payment up to £2000 excess and any arrangements you come to with your crew for covering such costs are your own. Please do talk this through with your crew prior to the event.
b. Skippers must signs the bottom of the front page. Section 1 data: Largs Shell Regatta. Section 2 data: Dates 24/8-26/8; Largs; Sunfast 37; No Sunsail Skipper. Section 3 Waterproofs if required should be booked here; You may chose to take out additional insurance; Leave all other spaces blank.
c. Skippers to complete second page and be sure to sign and date this plus enclose copies of their certificates.
d. nominated crew member to complete second section and sign.

If the forms are not completed correctly they will be returned to the skipper for completion.

6. Boats will be available from 1900 on Friday. If any crews wish to get an early start then feel free to turn up at Largs marina and see if there are any early boats available. On arrival check-in with the Sunsail office and they will organise handover.

7. Costs. Final event costs are £125. This includes breakfast in Nardini's at the Marina on Saturday, dinner and entertainment in Kip Marina on Saturday evening.

At Kip, the marina office has been advised to expect 15 Sunsail boats from ca 1700 on Saturday and space for us is reserved. The costguard will be informed of our activities on the Saturday, our approximate departure from Largs, our route and our approximate arrival at Kip.

The Skippers briefing will be at 0815 on Saturday morning in the Largs Sailing Club briefing room at Largs Marina. This will cover race details and safety. All Skippers must attend.

*If you have no official certification then your sailing CV is required. Keep it short to relevant previous experience as skipper or mate and miles sailed/general locations.
