For me it all started with an email invitation from Andrew to join some festival goers (now fondly referred to as “the great unwashed”) and spend a few days at the infamous Rum Music Festival – first question though……. just how do you spell Rum (Rhum) exactly? Anyway, the seed was planted and the emails started bouncing, it soon became apparent however, that unless your name was Dave you couldnae play!! Second question, how many Dave’s can you get on one boat? So, the crews were amassing (well the Dave’s were at any rate) and now it was time to sort out boats! Yet more emails, some more interesting than others! Now, I know I’m Scottish and quite cannae with my pennies, but “HOW MUCH…….???” blimey, I was going to have to sell something on eBay to pay for the weekend! I needn’t have worried though, our Skipper Dave (who else?) admitted he’d had a CRAFT moment (you’ll have to ask him…….) whilst budgeting and booked a flotilla of FPSO’s, a throwback to his Shelly days no doubt – aye, them were’t days them were!! Next task was to get tickets for the Music Festival – easy peasy eh! Well, not really……. they sold out faster than snow shovels in a blizzard.
